siri play Ladders

Starting 2020 was kind of crazy for me mainly because I received news of a new job. Launching Yellow Light District for Hoodwink was one of the last few tasks I was ultra hands on with before rendering my last few days with H&F. I spent nights crying over leaving my old job but part of me was just glad this last project was spent with my closest work friends.

We built the concept of the launch on Amsterdam's Red Light District with a Hoodwink touch, given that one of the brands, Carne Bollente, centers its design on sex positivity. I think I had the most fun designing this since being pervy was just... naturally easy.

Fred Perry Presents: Black/Champagne/Champagne

📍 Kapitolyo, Pasig

“First designed over 50 years ago, the black Fred Perry Shirt with champagne tipping was a subversive take on the original white tennis shirt. The colours of anti-establishment. The first shirt to use colour, we celebrate the legend of Black / Champagne / Champagne with colour takeovers all over the world.”

Continuing its efforts from early 2019, We at Fred Perry Philippines showcased the Black / Champagne / Champagne collection in key locations around Metro Manila (namely Poblacion, Maginhawa, San Antonio, Kapitolyo, and Malate).

Fred Perry Presents: Karaoke Takeover

In line with Fred Perry's Black/Champagne/Champagne campaign, we added local flavor to the global campaign by designing a BCC Karaoke and what better way to activate the campaign than by putting the machine to use?

We took over Annex House in Poblacion for a night and it just gave us a lot to laugh about the morning after so I guess we'll have more karaoke nights in the future.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

travel bag by Balenci'

Just a mix of content I shot for Balenciaga Philippines from S/S 17 to F/W 18. All these were shot in store or within the vicinity of 8 Rockwell (with the exception of one photo shot in Greenbelt).

My product photos of the Track Sneaker (shot on a makeshift studio in the office) also made it to an article on Hypebeast!

Models: Juan Villalobos from Elite, Alexandra Aguirre, Shayna Cua, and Nigel Garcia

Coffee On Us: Fred Perry Cafe 2019

For Father's Day weekend, Fred Perry Philippines brought back Fred Perry Café for the sixth time, still teaming with drink-crafters EDSA Beverage Design Group and The Curator to set up cafes in Power Plant, Greenbelt, and SM Megamall, and TriNoma while 32 Umber Café took on Cebu.

Designing this took days on end but I like to think the no-branding branding was a success. The challenge here was designing five different spaces with as minimal branding possible but our Visual Merchandising team pulled through! (My favorite part about this was flying to Cebu for the weekend and finishing a bottle of wine by myself in my hotel room.)

A Walk Down Manila Chinatown

On a random weekday that every one in my family was home, we made plans to head to gritty Manila for a food trip in Binondo (also known as Manila Chinatown). We went home with full stomachs and aching feet but the photos were all worth it in the end.

sweet trippy, you're lost in the deep end

I've been visiting the Virgin Island in Cebu every year since 2014 and I still get amazed by it every year. My only disappointment this year is that I didn't get the tan that I wanted because my sunblock was just too strong (oh well, guess that calls for another beach trip 🤷‍♀️).

There's nothing particularly different from this trip except for the copious amount of alcohol that we had but this time around, I was able to capture the island on film! For this set, I used two rolls of Kodak Colorplus 200 (bought from Korea by a friend!)

Also, one thing about the photo (see right) above is that pose was NOT easy to hold. I was half drowning with my eyes closed for the 'gram but shoutout to my sister who was able to capture it well. We're really after that buwis-buhay aesthetic.

New In The Neighborhood

With the new year came a new location and a new look for Hoodwink. We had the K shaking before 2018 ended to make way for a much bigger space. The goal was to retain Hoodwink's quirkiness while introducing our new coffee concept in Makati.

The space blends our retail and coffee concepts into one. “We like to think of Hoodwink as homme et femme’s youngest sibling—the one who gets away with a lot of things,” says Jappy Gonzalez the President of homme et femme (aka my boss). “From its name alone, it blindsides you with its alternate take on what’s considered contemporary.”

OFF-WHITE™ c/o VIRGIL ABLOH ON FILM

As I was having a high on film, I took on a project that had me shooting Off-White for our social media. Shoots like this are not necessarily planned so, we try to have fun with it as much as we can.

Fresh Out a Black and White Movie

Film has always been a fun exercise for me mainly because I like the entire process of it  from buying the film, to the tedious developing, and the loooooong wait for prints.

It's gotten to a point where I forgot what was on these rolls because these photos date back to mid-2017 (which was honestly an odd point in my life) to the latter half of 2018. These were all shot on Ilford 400 Black and White film with a Konica camera from my dad.

The City Moves Through You, Babe

I remember ranting to my bestfriend on the first day of the year that I was bored like crazy and I needed a massive change of scenery. So when a friend invited me to go to Taipei for a few days, I impulsively booked the flights and hoped for the best (mainly because I didn't ask permission from my parents before booking and only told them after I did...).

Also, that was the last photo I took with my favorite bucket hat (RIP Bucket Hat 2018-2019) before losing it in immigration. But it's true what my friend said though, "when you lose something in a different country, the country gives you back something more." So here goes my first international trip! I was honestly complaining about not taking enough photos but here we are, sifting through hundreds of them...

OUR TURF — a Purveyr x adidas Originals Collaboration

Early this year, I took on the nerve wracking challenge of shooting with a mirrorless camera for the Purveyr x adidas "OUR TURF" campaign. The shoot featured five local brands, namely Proudrace, Randolf, Salad Day, Revere, and Bastard, in partnership with adidas Originals.

In These Streets

One of my favorite classes when I was in college was my Photojournalism class with Sir Jimmy Domingo. Months ago, I took on an odd challenge which tasked me to document a place for an entire day. I don't know how I got to this idea but I thought of documenting how jeepneys were made. The assignment took me from Taft to Las Pinas on a random day. Looking back, I remember how the trip was timely because of the on-going price hikes then. Thinking about it now, these jeepneys face a new problem with the impending phase-out and modernization.

To be honest, I enjoyed this trip way too much and picked up a lot along the way (nevermind that I got lost for a solid hour when I was on the way to the venue). I should really go on a photo trip like this again.

Teo Athletics: Hyper Series

A huge part of my 2017 was dedicated to school and work and this has been one of the few efforts that came through. I went in this project with no clue on what to do in the gym and zero knowledge about athletics but I found myself looking at athletic-wear for pegs and inspiration. I picked up a lot from this team though -- they got me when I was just feeling things out and now, I'm this chick who does yoga at the end of the day. So thanks a lot, #TeamTeo!

Building Too

Went on my first (official!) photo walk in Makati for Film Folk's workshop under Sir  JC Gellidon a few months back (ad by a few months, I mean last June...) So much has happened this year and I can't wait to share more photos!

Wanderland Jungle

Let's throw it back to a few months ago (March 4, 2017 to be exact) when I spent a wonderful night watching such great acts. Wanderland 2017's lineup has The Temper Trap as its main headliner but really, I just lost it over LANY and Honne.

I have Lola Amour to thank for taking me as part of their crew for Wanderland. (These photos are long overdue but here you go!)

Teo Athletics: No Matter What

If you knew me personally, you could attest that I am the least athletic person out there (hand-eye coordination isn't my thing) but I took it as a challenge to shoot my friends' sportswear brand, Teo AthleticsTeo Athletics is an up and coming sportswear brand and they recently released their first ever collection. For this collection, it took us two days to shoot in three different locations. Mainly, the biggest task I faced was having to wake up early for a morning shoot... but kidding aside, I really had fun working with the people behind the brand.

More photos from their collection under the cut!

Maybe, Maybe

Photos of Lola Amour from their Tagpo set last February 18 in Power Mac Center Spotlight. I shot the band again as part of my project for one of my majors but I had too much fun in the gig than I expected. I really can't wait to see these boys perform during Wanderland!
